Preparing for a mini vacation

A comment before continuing this posting. It was not until my first journal was typed and posted that Topncal’s most recent journal was read by me. His journal brought home even more the regard in which he is held by me; not because of the financial comments but, rather, his willingness to give to others of my ilk.

For me, an older member of this world but a relative newcomer to the joys of the Internet, it is important to be never too old to learn and maintain a joie de vivre. Topncal is inspiring me in that way. Ok, enough of the praises; his right ear will be burning and, for the un-initiated, that means people are saying good things about you. If it is the left ear, look out!!

Today was a day to get semi-organized for leaving tomorrow for a 5 days mini vacation to Windsor in the Sonoma wine country. The Grapes of Wrath will not be on the reading list. LOL

The car has been washed; and, wow, did it need it. Why is it necessary to wash a car before heading out on vacation? There is a Scottish superstition that when windows (house and/or car) are cleaned it is sure to bring the rain. Keep in mind, however, that the weather in Scotland is nothing like that of the East Bay area. A Scottish summer is not even as good as a California winter. Brrrrrrrrr !!!

Well, all the bits and pieces have been added to the to-do list for the trip and an idea of what to wear and take has been formulated in my mind. The topper is taking a laptop with me on vacation for the very first time with the hope that there will be connections available to the outside world.

It will be quite an experience for me to stay in touch with friends locally and overseas via the Internet and toot my horn about the luxuries of semi-retirement - OK - just kidding.

Best wishes to those who read this
